I operate with both foreign and Russian clients; the international side of my practice sees me acting primarily as a Russian divorce (family) lawyer where one party ? or both ? is a foreign national. Upon taking a case, I set out a client?s alternatives under Russian law and seek to tailor an individual approach that allows them to achieve the best possible result in a timely and cost-effective fashion. I represent clients in court and before government agencies; my services also extend to property division, inheritance and related fields of law. Like anywhere, divorce in Russia is inevitably connected with financial issues. I represent clients in pre-court negotiations, draft marital contracts, represent spouses in property division cases and so forth. The main goal here is to minimize the legal and tax expense for both sides. You can learn more about spousal property division in Russia here. Frequently, a divorce is more than simple split between spouses and involves emotional arguments over the custody of children. I have a depth of experience, now spanning several years, in litigation relating to custody and visitation rights in the framework of both Russian and international law. Another important issue is obtaining permission for an underage child to leave Russia, which has been one of the most frequent categories of court cases of late. This can relate to a Russian woman marrying a foreign citizen and already having a child and wishing to move abroad or a parent moving abroad to work. These tend to be the main categories of people facing the problem of getting an agreement to do so, as the second parent is opposed to it or it is not possible to find the place of residence of the second parent. Aside from Family issues, my practice extends to international private law (all aspects of civil, property, inheritance and housing law), civil and appellate procedure.
